The Mechanical Design Engineer will define, plan, execute, and finalize product development projects. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members, contractors, consultants and suppliers to deliver product development projects according to plan. Principal duties will include the following.

Perform Engineering tasks in the development of new products and cost reduction: Participate in the development of product specifications. Produce conceptual designs. Manage development processes to produce new designs. Identify applicable standards relating to the design of new products. Analyze designs to ensure applicable industry standards are met. Analyze designs using engineering analysis tools and techniques such as 3D Modeling, FEA and CFD. Review instruction manuals and product literature. Define and lead prototype development, laboratory tests and field installations. Select proper hand/power tools for the application and use comfortably and safely. Assist with lab testing set-up as needed. Assist manufacturing in the introduction of new products into production. Conduct design reviews and tolerance analysis.

Participate in identification of new product opportunities: Assist in the research of customer product needs. Evaluate DeZURIK and competitive products. Propose and develop technologies to fulfill customer needs.

Manage and lead projects. Review project feasibility. Estimate resources needed to achieve project goals. Direct and manage projects from concept to release for production as a limited engineering resource for other departments. Create and maintain six-month project schedules. Manage projects to meet schedules including, working with team members to ensure completion of project objectives on-time, managing changes to project and product scope, and identifying and communicating potential threats of schedule to management. Participate in product release for production and related sale activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of progressive experience.
  • Position also requires the following:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of metal castings and precision machining of castings.
    • Demonstrated ability using all aspects of 3D modeling software to create and manipulate models, assemblies, drawings, animations.
    • Demonstrated ability performing and review finite element analysis.
    • Demonstrated ability to foresee safety hazards and provide engineering safety controls and substitutions.
    • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to conform to changing priorities, demands, and timelines.
    • Strong demonstrated written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging trends and developments in technical fields.
