Lumos is looking for a full-time Operations Service Technician 1! If you are a Service Technician who's excited for a fast-paced experience, ready to help us grow, and ready to recommend process changes that ensure we're harnessing our technology to the best of our ability while broadening our scope doing installations, preventive maintenance, service activation, deactivations and testing, troubleshooting.

Essential Functions



  • Candidates must reside within 30 minutes of Columbia, SC / Lexington, SC Area to allow a reasonable commuting distance.
  • Installations and Troubleshooting basic Voice, Data & Video services on Copper and Fiber.
  • Working on computer for Data entry - Updating Trouble Tickets, Orders, Timesheet's, system & equipment provisioning, Internet Services, Etc.
  • WI-FI - Provision Wi-Fi to include SSID configuration, Guest Network Access, and wireless firewall options. Troubleshoot and repair wireless issues.
  • Installation and Troubleshooting customer premise equipment (Residential Gateways, Routers, switches, security systems, station wiring, etc.)
  • Installation and Troubleshooting Circuits (Voice, Broadband, etc.)


  • Other duties as required.


Other Experience & Requirements



  • Education: High School diploma.
  • Experience: 0-2 years' experience in related field.
  • Key Competencies: Good driving record; Office 365 suite; reside within 30 minutes of reporting location. Understanding and use of technical documentation.
  • Reside within 30 minutes of normal reporting location including home-based.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Ability to climb a utility pole (not applicable in CLEC areas) and work aloft, carry and handle extension ladder, step ladder as applicable to Job responsibilities.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and transport 50 feet.
  • Availability to work various hours, schedules, and weather conditions, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts as required.
  • Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces and confined areas.
