Job Summary

The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services in Loudoun County is actively seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Aquatics Supervisor at the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, scheduled to commence operations in 2025. This position entails the management of the natatorium, which involves the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, training, and supervision of the lifeguard team. Responsibilities also include ensuring that water chemistry adheres to regulatory standards, maintaining the cleanliness of locker rooms and pool areas, and documenting various reports related to chemicals, maintenance, incidents, and injuries. Furthermore, this role involves ensuring the proper functioning of pool pumps, filters, and sanitization systems, as well as managing the ordering of supplies and the maintenance of inventory and equipment. The suitable candidate must exhibit leadership, communication, and organizational competencies, as well as a robust commitment to fostering water safety and creating enjoyable experiences in aquatic environments.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
- Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Ashburn, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Recruiting and hiring aquatic staff including full and part-time lifeguards.
- Coordinating and implementing American Red Cross training, in-services, and re-certification programs for full and part-time Recreation Services staff.
- Evaluate facilities for safety compliance, identify hazards and deficiencies, assess cleanliness, and suggest modifications to safety policies and emergency response plans.
- Arranging the necessary aquatic personnel to ensure sufficient coverage for facility programs, activities, and unstructured swimming sessions.
- Oversee the operations of aquatic facilities, ensuring proper water chemistry is maintained; possess the skills to operate, diagnose issues, and perform minor repairs on all aquatic equipment.
- Oversees the inventory and condition of supplies, equipment, and uniforms
- Supports the coordination efforts and may execute other vital job functions that are specific to the designated position and department.
*The work schedule is subject to change based on operational hours and may encompass weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation or Leisure Services or a related field. It is preferred that applicants have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in aquatics operations and natatorium facility management, including experience in public interaction and prior supervisory responsibilities.
- Membership and involvement in related professional organization(s).
- Certified Pool Operator /Certified PTHA CPO Instructor/Water Safety Instructor/Water Safety Instructor Trainer/Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer /Certified Aquatic Facility Operator
- Certified Aquatic Facility Operator Trainer/Certified Angelfish Instructor/NRPA Aquatics Management/NRPA Splash Pad/CPRP certification or equivalent

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

- Pre-employment fingerprinting, credit checks, Child Protective Services (CPS), and DMV background checks are required.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required, with driving records subject to annual review to ensure ongoing eligibility.
- Before employment, hold or obtain the required Pool Operator license, Lifeguard certification, and First Aid/CPR-PR certification.
- Lifeguard instructor certification within 90 days of hiring.
- Certification in AED and Supplemental Oxygen within 90 days of hiring.
