Additional Department Summary: The successful candidate will assist Dr. Jeremy Bailin on computational research involving stellar halos. In particular, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for using the CoSANG stellar halo simulation code to continue generating a suite of stellar halo simulations, updating the code as necessary to implement additional physics, and analyzing the resulting simulated halos with the goal of determining the connection between observable properties of halos and the formation histories of their galaxies.

The initial term of appointment will be for 2 years, with a potential extension of a third year upon mutual agreement.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Applicants should have previous experience with astrophysical simulations and in the study of galaxy formation and evolution.

Experience with observations of resolved stellar populations and/or directly comparing simulations and observations will be considered assets.

Background Investigation Statement: Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation DOES NOT automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position.
