JOB TITLE:

Open Rank Professor in Supply Chain (SCM) or Operations Management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an open rank position in Supply Chain (SCM) or Operations Management with a focus on Business Analytics, starting Fall 2025. This role is critical as the college launches a new SCM specialization and embarks on a curriculum modernization initiative during the same semester. We are looking for a candidate who will play an instrumental role in shaping these initiatives.
  • Teaching Excellence: The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to innovative, experiential teaching methods that enhance our department's strong reputation. You will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in supply chain management, logistics management, operations management, decision sciences, and business analytics, with a particular focus on graduate (MBA) level instruction.
  • Research Leadership: The successful candidate will conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed research leading to publications in prestigious journals. We value scholars who translate their research into practical applications, making it accessible and valuable to university stakeholders.
  • Program Development and Service Engagement: As part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to the innovation of programs that respond to market demands, supporting the college's strategic goals. While engaging in meaningful institutional and professional service activities, we aim to balance the service load for assistant professors, allowing you to focus on your teaching and research.

The college supports research endeavors with competitive annual funding, summer funding opportunities, and research grants, empowering faculty to excel in their scholarly pursuits.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

By Spring or Fall 2025, candidates should hold a Ph.D. in supply-chain management, operations management, decision sciences or a closely related discipline and a professional record demonstrating competencies for conducting academic work in the business analytics area. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August 19, 2025. Candidates for the position should demonstrate potential for innovative teaching, a strong research program, and innovative program building and professional outreach relative to the described position. Candidates must be able to teach in traditional face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats to diverse populations of students. Finally, candidates must show a propensity for collegiality.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A demonstrated record of research publication in high-quality journals such as those listed on the Financial Times 50 and the Association of Business School's journal lists. Evidence of on-going high-quality research publication potential. An excellent teaching record with evidence of innovative, experiential-oriented methods in the preferred areas. A strong service record including evidence of the ability to effectively contribute to college strategic initiatives and to the university's land-grant mission.

THE MANAGEMENT & MARKETING DEPARTMENT

The Department of Management and Marketing comprises faculty of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, sales, supply-chain management, decision sciences, business ethics, and business law. The Management Faculty have published in high-quality supply chain and operations management journals on the FT 50, UTD and SCM list such as the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Operations Research, Journal of Business Logistics, and Journal of Supply Chain Management along with top management journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Business Ethics, Strategic Management Journal, Entrepreneurship, Theory, and Practice, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of World Business, and Organization Science. Importantly, the faculty have a reputation as innovative teachers who work with external partners to create real-world project opportunities for students. Finally, the faculty have an expectation of collegiality and partnership.
