CDS operates four dining units (Browne Dining Hall, Red Door Marketplace, Broad Cafe, and Avery Kitchen) for a campus community of 2000. We also serve over 850 students, 7 days a week, through our Meal Plan Program and maintain a burgeoning Catering Department. Job Summary The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the manager in the day-to-day operations of the Red Door Marketplace. In this position, the candidate will ensure that the manager's delegation of duties is being performed as required by all staff. The position will also be a point of contact and communication for customer related issues and inquiries. They will also assist the manager in ensuring a successful operation, to include, but not be limited to, employee management, ordering, tracking inventory, sanitation & safety, and food usage & waste management. Assists the manager in maintaining a strong team environment that exemplifies ownership, initiative, and communication. Ensures the unit is ready for service, staff has the tools and knowledge they need to do their jobs, and that all equipment is in good operating condition. The candidate must have strong communication skills, kitchen production experience, barista experience and the ability to handle stressful situations & conflict appropriately. This is an Essential Reporting position. In the event of an emergency on campus, an employee designated as essential reporting has essential job skills that are needed for response and recovery and is expected to report to Campus as soon as possible.
