VTS Stock Clerks (SC) perform all tasks and services necessary to operate Hazardous Material Distribution Support Centers (HDSC) and Waste Generation Collection Points (WGCPs) on Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), Corpus Christi, TX. Assignment may be full-time and/or part-time as necessary to support a 3-shift operation, 7 days per week. Due to constantly fluctuating customer production schedules, SC schedules may vary from week to week and at times daily, to include assignment to 3rd shift schedule. In general, when in the HDSCs, the SC is responsible to receive, label, store, issue, recover, and conduct inventory of hazardous material (HM) in support of CCAD Artisans. In general, when in the WGCPs and handling waste, the SC is responsible for managing Artisan-dispositioned waste, opening and closing waste drums, managing waste within HMIDS daily, ensuring WGCP management and proper waste segregation, and conducting daily inspections. SCs shall perform all of their duties in accordance with the contract Performance Work Statement (PWS), VTS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), CCAD Regulation 200-16, Navy Hazardous Waste Management Plan and all other applicable governing directives. Specific HDSC/WGCP Stock Clerk duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Create and maintain all reports necessary ensure proper inventory maintenance.
- Donning proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
- Issue and turn-in Hazardous Material (HM) physically and in the Hazardous Material Inventory and Disposal System (HMIDS) database following proper Artisan identification.
- Execute all Issue/Turn-in transactions at a fast-paced and high-volume to ensure requesting Artisans are supported in a timely manner ensuring immediate support requests are fulfilled.
- Transfer, receive, label and store HM correctly and efficiently, at an accuracy of at least 98%.
- Monitor HM stock reports in HMIDS and conduct physical inventory checks to ensure the correct amount of inventory is being stored and/or requested from CMS Supply in order to meet production needs.
- Verify receipt of HM transferred/sold to HDSCs from CMS 3PL Material Expeditors by signing/validating documentation.
- Examine stock upon receipt to ensure integrity before signing for material.
- Coordinate all necessary information/tasks with fellow SCs on previous and follow-on shifts.
- Ensure all daily, monthly, and yearly checklists are fully executed and documented for their shift.
- Store HM according to the Shelf/Bin process following all applicable regulations when storing, transferring, and receiving HM. Maintain all assigned Point of Use lockers and carts.
- Ensure all necessary Shelf Life Extension Updates are initiated (lab or internal) to ensure the maximum shelf-life of HM. Ensure items with SL extensions or denials are dispositioned correctly.
- Compile reports on all issues, receipts, and delinquent Artisans IAW established deadlines.
- Decant HM from parent to child containers to meet production needs.
- Remove and process non-conforming stock from general inventory (Code J, Expired, and Questionable Integrity HM).
- Ensure industrial cleanliness of work-area and HM.
- Under no circumstances shall a SC disposition HAZWASTE (HW) or determine/identify proper waste stream.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of HMIDS to ensure all HM and HW is properly tracked from receipt through use/disposition.
- Operate motor vehicles, motorized scooters, golf-carts, forklifts, bicycles, and/or burden carriers as assigned.
- Ensure proper WGCP operations IAW the Navy and CCAD HW Management Plans and VTS SOPs by managing all waste through HMIDS for Cradle-to-Grave tracking. Specific requirements include the following:
- Conduct Daily Hazardous Waste Management Site Inspection, and report any and all discrepancies to supervisor.
- Ensure proper signage, HW container labeling, personnel entry, clear isle space, location of emergency equipment, secondary containment, WGCPs have all necessary Fire and Safety Inspector signatures and security/general housekeeping in the WGCP.
- Receive correct HW when filling and ensure proper segregation of waste streams/profile, ensure HW is in proper containers at all times, HW containers are closed when not actively in use, Open and Close-out HW drums within HMIDS, stage full drums for Environmental pickup, ensure filled HW Drums are picked up within 3 consecutive days of closing, daily manage empty 5 gallon and under cans, and submit T-Calls for pickup for greater than 5 gallons.
- Coordinate with CCAD Environmental on all Lab Packs, needed.
- Other Stock Clerk duties as assigned. Stock Clerks may be temporarily assigned to other duties as necessary to meet VTS/contract requirements.

- High School Diploma or an equivalent.
- Experience in handling and storing HM desired.
- Must be able to safely lift 60lbs, unassisted.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
- Must be able to work all 3 shifts if required, to include 3rd shift (ex: 9:00p-5:30a). All schedules are subject to change sometimes daily as driven by CCAD Production requirements.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance IAW VTS policies and consistent with the workplace environment.
