TPM is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division's responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility, and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. Transit Development (TD) is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies in order to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The unit manages the Better Buses program and transit policy initiatives and develops location-specific projects to help the quality and safety of bus operations, and to improve pedestrian access to transit. TD also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the MTA agencies.

The Transit Development (TD) unit is seeking a Bus Priority Data Lead within the TD Bus Priority unit. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this role involves maintaining, analyzing, and improving internal geospatial and asset tracking databases. Responsibilities include establishing and monitoring best practices, policies, procedures, and documentation related to bus priority data, as well as effectively communicating technical issues to both technical and nontechnical audiences. Additionally, the Bus Priority Data Lead will analyze transit and traffic data for bus priority projects and support traffic analysis initiatives. Serving as a key resource for GIS, data analysis, and traffic analysis within the unit is essential. This position also requires serving as the unit's primary liaison to the MTA regarding data needs, working collaboratively within the TD unit, and closely with other NYC DOT staff and various City, State, and Federal agencies. Contributions will extend to proposals aimed at improving bus service on identified corridors using NYC DOT's toolkit and conducting public outreach as necessary. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience or interest using data analysis to promote transit-supportive streets. Experience preferred working on transit projects; strong written and verbal skills, including delivering technical presentations for non-technical audiences; experience with geographic data collection and analysis, particularly in the ArcGIS suite; experience working with Streetlight, Inrix, and similar data platforms; familiarity with transit-oriented street design. Experience using Python, SQL, R, VBA or similar languages to analyze problems and design and streamline workflows. Experience with CAD and/or graphic design software desirable. Experience with Synchro and traffic analysis desirable.

Additional Information
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Hours/Shift: 35 hrs. per week / 9am-5pm

In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the City Planer title, or reachable on the civil service list, or be eligible under the 55a program.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to "1"" above. Graduate
education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.

Special Qualification Requirements

Assignment Level III
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

Assignment Level IV
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, two additional years of professional experience as described in "2" above.
