Medical Lab Scientist- Core Lab -Days

Position Highlights:

• Medical Lab Scientist-Core Lab/Generalist
• Hourly Pay Range: $28.05-45.69 The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
• Endeavor Health is currently conducting a comprehensive review of our compensation structure. The new minimum for this role will be adjusted to $30.46 base pay hourly rate beginning with May 2025 paychecks.
• Location: Edward Hospital 801 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL.
• Full-time : 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
• Hours: 6am-2:30pm various shifts during the week and every other weekend; Includes holiday rotations

What you will do:

• The Medical Technologist cultivates, isolates and assists in identifying bacterial and other micro-organisms present in body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings or autopsy and surgical specimens. Performs various bacteriological, mycological, parasitological and immunological tests to provide data on the diagnosis, cause, and progression of disease.
  
• Maintains competencies in accordance with policy/procedure of the hospital and department

• Performs quality control checks per established protocols. Records these QC checks appropriately and takes corrective action when checks are not within established guidelines. Documents corrective action taken.

• Reviews test results for accuracy and notifies appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results. Documents this notification per established protocols.

• Performs instrument checks, maintenance and troubleshooting per department protocol

• Oversees the work of Laboratory Assistant, provides guidance and instruction as appropriate. Verifies competency as required.

• Maintains knowledge level that is consistent with the changes within the healthcare environment. Reads appropriate books and journals in order to be used as a resource to other lab staff and nursing

What you will need:

• Associates Degree or higher in Medical Technology or Medical Lab Science, Required
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC), Preferred
