Perform a variety of highly skilled duties utilizing specialized imaging equipment in order to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of ocular diseases. Perform multiple ophthalmic imaging procedures including, but not limited to: digital fluorescein/ICG angiography, color fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, retinal thickness analysis, etc. Individual must strive to develop the necessary skills for provision of photographic/imaging services to patients in the Department of Ophthalmology. This is to include all external, slit lamp and retinal angiography in accordance with usual and advanced photographic techniques. Additionally, incumbent must gain expertise in assembly of scientific posters and/or photographic slide presentations for educational purposes. Using the aforementioned techniques and others not listed, the Ophthalmic Photographer will perform a wide variety of imaging tests in order to aid the physicians in documenting, tracking, and treating all forms of eye disease. Duties will involve direct patient care during imaging procedures, performing appropriate tests, and ensuring the accurate processing of images via computer-based software.
The ophthalmic photographer is responsible for caring for and ensuring proper calibration and operation of all photography equipment. This includes but is not limited to, archiving images, uploading images and assisting in trouble shooting equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Must obtain Certified Retinal Angiographers (CRA) CertificationANDCertified Optical Coherence Tomographers (OCT-C) Certification by the end of the first three years of employment required if hired after May 27, 2016. 3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE: 1. One year of Retinal Angiography or Optical Coherence Tomography experience preferred. Provide assistance in creation of educational posters, scientific posters/presentations, lectures, clinical trials reports and provision of imaging services as directed and necessary. 8. ARVO support as directed. 9. Quarterly/Annual Ophthalmic CME course presentations. 10. Residents Day preparations. 11. Layout and design of educational materials as directed. 12. ARVO support as directed. 13. Assist in the education and training of students and other assigned personnel in clinical trial activities as required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. 6. Performs tasks in a tactful and professional manner. 7. Must participate in the necessary steps in becoming certified for research imaging.
