Join Our Mission

The Secure Detention Counselor position is responsible for creating a safe, therapeutic and caring environment for youth in a secure detention setting. The goal of the position is to ensure basic needs are met with a primary emphasis on proper supervision and interaction with all aspects of the program. This includes facility, recreational and educational activities while teaching social skills through relationship building and role-modeling.

Sign on Bonus - $1,250

Job Responsibilities

* Plan and engage youth in activities.

* Form therapeutic relationships with youth and families.

* Observe, guide and correct as necessary, delinquent, unsafe and/or unusual behavior.

* Evaluate, interpret, instruct and guide the behavior of youth and to assess and manage group dynamics.

Job Requirements



  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written; capable of working in a stressful environment; ability to become TCI, and First/Aid CPR certified.
  • Valid Driver's License, with acceptable driving history to the Agency



Pay and schedule



  • Pay is dependent on experience & education, starting at $21.75 hourly.
  • Current shifts available are 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
