Software Engineer Intern - Undergraduate

United States, San Mateo: this position must be performed in a hybrid capacity out of the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo, CA office.

About the Team:

This is a unique opportunity to grow as an engineer by working closely with product development, operations teams, and leadership across the organization. Our mission is to design and build tools and infrastructure that empower engineers to develop and deliver high-quality software quickly, impacting millions of PlayStation users.

We look for problem solvers who can anticipate issues, think beyond immediate challenges, and take initiative in solving diverse technical challenges at scale. We embrace the latest tools and techniques to address complex problems.

What You'll Be Doing:




  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high-quality software releases.



  • Develop and maintain containerization solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.



  • Design, build, and support onboarding tools to accelerate build, testing, release, and deployment processes.



  • Conduct research on new technologies and contribute to solving complex technical challenges to improve engineering productivity.




What We're Looking For:



  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, with an expected graduation by Spring 2026.

  • Proficiency in Java, Groovy, and Golang.



  • Exposure and interest in tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and DataDog is a plus.



  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.



  • Exposure to DevOps Engineering practices.



  • Interest in AI technologies and how they can be leveraged to improve code quality and development lifecycle.




Eligibility:




  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.



  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.



  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.



  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.




Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$50 $50 USD
