Position Summary

Join
Dr. Singh Lab team in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at
UNM School of Medicine! Dr. Singh lab is working on decoding the epigenetic
basis of various ocular/metastatic cancers and age-related macular degeneration
(AMD). This is your chance to be trained and be part of the cutting-edge
research that is tailored toward decoding these diseases for better
therapeutics and diagnostics.

What You'll Do
Help MD students working in Dr. Singh lab in their research projects on Uveal Melanoma, cancer epigenetics and AMD.
Get trained in the epigenetics/molecular biology experiments under the supervision of MD or PhD students and be able to perform on your own in future. Hence, co-ordinate time with MD/PhD students in Dr. Singh lab.
Support the team in literature reviews and database management
Learn experimental design research skills & data analytics and apply them
Collaborate with researchers from different scientific backgrounds
Potentially contribute to scientific writing and publication processes
Learn cell culture work and ensure the proper growth of various cell lines, spheroids/organoids
Once trained apply learned knowledge for independent projects

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student at UNM (2nd year or junior preferred)
  • Major in Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science
  • Strong interest in medical research and data analysis
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest or experience in molecular biology, cell culture and epigenetics/genetics is a plus
  • Interest in or experience with scientific writing is a plus
  • Interest in or experience with bioinformatics is a plus
