Description

The Nursing Professional Development Staff Educator is accountable for implementing and supporting programs for staff development, education, quality, and evidence-based practice.

Facilitates assessment and identification of practice gaps and learning needs. Support onboarding, transitions to practice, continuing education, and academic student placement experiences within the nursing division.
Change Agent for quality, safety and practice improvement: Analyze quality outcomes, synthesize data and evidence to support the development and implementation of collaborative improvement initiatives. Adapts strategies to address barriers and sustain changes in practice.
Promotes professional development of nurses and support staff (higher education, certification, engagement in shared governance, leadership development, scholarly inquiry).
Participates in strategic planning and goal development. Advances healthy interprofessional practice and learning environments. Promotes and participates in nursing shared governance and other organization or system level committees/councils.
Promotes a culture of innovation, scholarly inquiry, and high reliability. Participates in the evaluation and synthesis of best available evidence into practice changes. Utilize reliable instruments or tools to measure impact of practice change.
Supports teams in the pursuit of nursing accreditation and regulatory compliance (e.g. Transition to Practice, Magnet, TJC, DPH, other Specialty Certifications). Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives with high reliability framework.

In the absence of a Nursing Supervisor, may function independently in this role.

Qualifications

RN required. BSN required; MSN preferred. Clinical or professional specialty certification required; NPD-BC preferred.

3-5 years nursing practice required, critical care experience preferred. 1-2 years experience with facilitation of precepting, and education programs required.
