Travel is required for this position. We provide lodging expenses, $59 per diem, and the use of a company vehicle. 85% travel per month is typical.

We're hiring immediately for a Utility Construction Technician in Roanoke, VA. Are you passionate about stormwater utilities and water/wastewater management? If you have at least 3 to 4+ years of hands-on experience in these areas, especially within industrial or commercial sites, we want to hear from you. We're seeking a candidate who excels at interpreting plan sets, is proficient in operating heavy equipment, and has a solid understanding of OSHA safety regulations. What you'll do:



  • Construct and Repair Critical Stormwater Infrastructure: Work on essential underground utilities, concrete structures, and stormwater basins across the central states, ensuring communities are safe and resilient.
  • Operate Advanced Construction Equipment: Utilize a range of tools, from hand-held and power tools to heavy machinery like skid loaders, excavators, and dozers, showcasing your technical expertise.
  • Travel and Explore: Embrace the opportunity to travel during the week, exploring new locations while making a significant impact on various projects.
  • Innovate and Learn: Master pioneering construction techniques and regulatory compliance strategies, positioning yourself as a leader in the industry.
  • Contribute to Project Success: Document field observations to aid in project success and drive continuous improvement, ensuring our projects are always top-notch.
  • Prioritize Safety: Uphold the highest safety standards on every project, safeguarding yourself and your team at all times.


What we're looking for:



  • 3 to 4 years of experience:

    • Pouring and finishing concrete
    • Heavy equipment operation (excavation, mini-excavator and/or skid steer on stormwater projects)
    • Wet utilities (pipe laying and repairs for stormwater, water, sewer, and wastewater)


  • Travel: Ability to travel Monday through Friday, with travel required 85% of the time.
  • Driving: Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Safety/Compliance: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA safety practices and comfortable using pickups and equipment trailers while following DOT requirements.
  • Working Foreman: Prior experience leading a crew
