The Position:

Lumos is looking for a full-time Fiber Management Specialist! The Fiber Management Specialist provides support for the continued implementation and configuration of the 3-GIS application within the Lumos technology stack. Will use Outside Plant (OSP) documents in the form of Engineering drawings, Fiber Records, and other telecom related documentation to assist Lumos construction and engineering teams on building out the Lumos network. The Fiber Management Specialist relies upon substantial knowledge of multiple telecommunications technologies including DWDM, Ethernet and Gig Wave type designs. The ideal candidate must be able to understand the engineering and construction processes and workflows. Ability to read and revise As-builts and DWG drawings, along with other GIS based maps.

Essential Functions:



  • Provide technical support for internal Lumos and external vendors including 3-GIS Web and Mobile end users
  • Work with the Lumos Manager, GIS to provide and implement best practices for data management including workflows, fiber records and other GIS data.
  • Utilize Lumos established workflows to support engineering and construction teams in entering new telecom/GIS-based data into 3-GIS Web using the established processes and procedures
  • Train both internal Lumos and external vendors on the proper use and adoption of 3-GIS
  • Test new 3-GIS Web and Mobile versions for functionality and bug fixes
  • Conduct end user needs assessments/requirements gathering workshops and document recommended solutions based on feedback from the customer and internal subject matter experts
  • Collaboration and communication within internal teams and external vendors



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required



  • Capability to comprehend network diagrams/maps, learn network terminology, and solve problems on the fly
  • Understanding of key telecom and mapping techniques through knowledge of numerous GIS/Fiber Management applications



Other Experience & Requirements



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 4-6 years of Telecommunication, GIS and/or CAD experience. Direct knowledge and hands-on use of 3-GIS, Esri products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise). Direct knowledge and hands-on use of other Fiber Management/CAD applications (Mapcom M4, CadTel, Autodesk). 3-GIS and/or Esri specific training/certifications a plus. Ability to use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is required


Physical Requirements



  • Sedentary office work requiring near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and computer and peripheral equipment
  • Computer and common office equipment
