DC's children need you! We are seeking a Nurse Leader passionate about public health with a determination and commitment to improving the lives of children in the DC public school system. The school nursing team provides comprehensive school health nursing services to school-age children in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention while also safeguarding their integrity and recognizing their right to make their own decisions. The nurse manager will lead a multi-site team of RNs, LPNs, and Health Techs at public and charter schools in the District of Columbia. As part of a public-private partnership with the District of Columbia's Department of Health (DOH), Children's School Services (through Children's National Hospital oversight) provides on-site nursing services in 120+ DC public schools and 70+ public charter schools. The population of the District of Columbia is approximately 600,000 residents, approximately 20% of whom are children. Qualifications
Minimum Education BSN (Required)
Minimum Work Experience 5 years of related and progressively responsible clinical nurse experience; 1 year supervisory experience .

Program Administration and Implementation
- Implements strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations
- Assists Director of Nursing in development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve program goals.
- Develops staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services
- Ensures compliance with CSS and CNHS policies and procedures, and regulatory standards
- Troubleshoots operational issues and develops action plans to resolve
Contributes to Program Strategic Planning
- With the Director of Nursing, contributes to strategic plan for program services, including short- and long-term objectives
- Collects and analyzes customer feedback and evaluates service/department effectiveness
- With Director, incorporates findings into plans to modify program/ service delivery
Human Resources Management
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, hires, trains, develops and directs assigned staff to meet program objectives
- Provides timely coaching and performance feedback
- Deploys staff appropriately to meet contract objectives
- Promotes staff satisfaction through understanding, clarifying mutual expectations, coaching development and regular communication
- Ensures that performance evaluations, medical requirements and all other organizational circuit breakers for all staff are complete and on time.
- Consistently acts as a role model and mentor to staff.
Provision of Nursing Services
- Promotes knowledge and application of professional nursing standards.
- Implements and monitors strategies and initiatives to advance school nursing practice.
- Facilitates linkages to appropriate resources to facilitate the delivery of high quality, safe and effective nursing care.
- Implement strategies to monitor the provision of safe and effective school health services, as appropriate.
Department Strategic Planning
- Partner in Children's School Services mission and uphold the values in the organization.
- Contribute to the strategic plan for Children's School Services, including short-term and long- term objectives.
- Collect and analyze customer and staff feedback and evaluate service/department effectiveness.
- Collaborate with team and leadership to incorporate findings into plans of modifying program/ service delivery.
Program Administration and Implementation
- Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of the District of Columbia Public and Public Charter Schools.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve and improve processes.
- Collaborate with leadership on significant operational issues/barriers.
- Assist leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals.
- Administer programs and services within budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate current as well as new program initiatives for effectiveness, feasibility and cost.
- Ensure compliance with CNMC policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.
Human Resources Management
- Hire, train, develop and direct assigned staff to meet operational objectives.
- Provide timely coaching and performance feedback.
- Develop staffing plan/schedule and deploy staff appropriately to optimize productivity and ensure quality services.
- Mentor staff to promote high quality care and innovation within the CSS.
Information Resources Management
- Proficient in the use of administrative and clinical information resources and decision-support tools.
- Proficient in compiling and analyzing data to support decision-making.
