DIABETES PROGRAM NP, Full Time, 40 Hours, Rotating Shift, BWH BOSTON NURSE PRACTITIONER M.S. GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Diabetes Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse who has acquired specialized knowledge and skills in diabetes through completion of a nurse practitioner program, completion of a diabetes certificate program and/or work experience in the care of patients with diabetes. The practitioner has the credentials to function in an expanded nursing role and is responsible for the daily management of diabetes patients. The practitioner has the responsibility for assessment and management of patients including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and continuous implementation and evaluation of appropriate plan of care. The nurse practitioner works with their collaborating physician in accordance with mutually developed practice guidelines, members of the care team and is responsible to the Nursing Director or Executive Nursing Director for the area for specific to the discipline of nursing. After-hours coverage and some weekend coverage will be required.
