Description

The Machinist Mechanic at Perrigo NY is responsible for fabrication of parts as well as execution of preventive, corrective and repair maintenance of production equipment, following standard operating procedures. This position requires the ability to work under limited supervision and the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the completion of assigned tasks.

Please note that this role requires the candidate to be a manual machinist. The majority of time will be spent on repairs.

Tool and Part Fabrication: Design, create, and modify tools and machine parts using lathes, milling and grinding machines, welding equipment, and other machine tools.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to understand specifications and requirements and identification of replacement parts.
Machine Operation: Setup and operation of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Ensure machines are calibrated and maintained for accurate production.
Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Adjust equipment as necessary to ensure high-quality output.
Maintenance: Perform maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance, including equipment set-ups and fine tuning, as well as preventive, corrective and repair maintenance. Follow disciplined approach to equipment troubleshooting (Root Cause Analysis) to support prompt identification and correction of equipment issues
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure project requirements are met. Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine settings, and maintenance activities.

Experience Required

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field is preferred.
Experience:



  • Proven experience as a machinist mechanic or similar role involving operation of CNC equipment is required.
  • Experience in the execution of preventive, corrective, and repair maintenance of production equipment, preferably in pharmaceutical industry.


Skills:



  • Proficiency in operating fabrication equipment such as drill press, lathe, milling & grinding machines, welding equipment.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiar with use of maintenance/engineering applications (Microsoft Office, SAP, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.


Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
