Huntsman is seeking a Senior Director EHS - Americas supporting the Environmental Health and Safety Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Senior Vice President - EHS.

Job Scope

As the Senior Director EHS for the Americas region at Huntsman, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices are implemented and maintained across our operations. You will provide strategic leadership and guidance, develop and implement EHS programs and processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive a culture of safety, compliance, and sustainability throughout the organization.

In summary, as the Senior Director EHS - Americas, your duties and responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the EHS strategy for the Americas region, aligned with Huntsman's overall goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to EHS teams across sites in the Americas.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance, mitigate risks and achieve regulatory compliance.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards in the Americas region, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant chemical industry-specific regulations and best practices.
  • Implement processes and systems to monitor compliance and address any gaps or non-conformities.

EHS Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement effective EHS programs and procedures to manage risks, prevent incidents and promote a safe and health work environment.
  • Utilize the EHS Americas and Center of Excellence teams to evaluate the effectiveness of EHS programs, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish EHS goals and monitor metrics and key performance indicators to measure EHS performance across the region. Identify opportunities for proactive and preventative programs and risk-based initiatives to further EHS performance.

Training and Education:

  • Assure delivery of comprehensive EHS training programs to educate employees, contractors and relevant stakeholders on hazard identification, safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by fostering employee awareness, engagement and participation in EHS initiatives.

Incident Management:

  • Ensure timely reporting of incidents, near misses, and other EHS-related events to relevant internal and external stakeholders, as required by internal standards and by regulations.
  • Ensure incident investigations occur that determine root cause(s), identify corrective action(s) and verify implementation. Monitor trends and system causes to inform proactive measures that prevent recurrence.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including but not limited to Operations (Manufacturing), Engineering, and Human Resources, to integrate EHS consideration into business processes, projects and new initiatives.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry associations, and local communities, to build relationships, influence EHS policies and promote sustainability efforts.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in EHS and/or Operations management within the petrochemical industry, preferably with oversight of multiple sites.
