About the Role

We are seeking a colleague to work in a brand new role of Sr. Cloud Architect for Trimble's Cloud Core organization. In this role you will take ownership of pieces of the horizontal Cloud Platform underpinning Trimble's web services that enable Trimble to provide a reliable and scalable cloud software platform for all its clients.

You will drive the design and oversee adherence to it during the implementation of Cloud systems and backends based on AWS and Azure. Your tasks will include the design, prototype, potential first minimal viable implementation, and the communication of the said designs to development teams of novel solutions to all kinds of cloud problems. As an Architecture team member, you will be required to understand and apply the latest cloud technologies from the major cloud providers in order to solve complicated Trimble wide problems.

For this position, we need a colleague who is highly skilled and experienced with Cloud technologies (AWS and Azure), who is self-driven, motivated and collaborative. You should already have extensive experience designing, writing and deploying scalable applications and have a 'quality-first' mindset, and you're excited to roll up your sleeves for the next big challenge.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, document, review, and communicate cloud service architecture.

  • Design, document, review, and communicate cloud software solutions.

  • Designs will include everything from monitoring, compliance with our security protocols, and communication across components to metric measuring and database schemas.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to find optimal solutions.

  • Mentor junior engineers.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience developing cloud applications and over 10 years total experience.

  • Demonstrably strong Python skills.

  • Experience designing and realizing cloud service architectures in AWS (preferred) and/or Azure.

  • Knowledge of Web standards and protocols including HTTP and REST.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Familiarity with common commercial software development best practices.

  • A wide degree of creativity, openness, and latitude when approaching problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.

The Trimble Cloud Core team builds core platform services such as data storage, authentication, authorization, and data processing that are used by Trimble and Trimble partners in the Buildings, Construction, Transportation, Agriculture, and Geospatial industries. Our cloud services allow Trimble businesses to efficiently build applications and connect content throughout its lifecycle.
