This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals

Examples of Duties
-
Administration 10%
- Assist in the administrative functions of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery working with the Chair to develop systems of supervision and evaluation of residents and medical students.
- Help develop specialized clinics related to the field of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, where appropriate, in conjunction with the School of Medicine.
Teaching 20%
- Provide a role model as a teacher in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Develop teaching modules in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
- Assist with methods for students, residents in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and other residents rotating through Otolaryngology.
- Develop and implement programs in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery for National distribution.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programs.
- Provide education to SIU-School of Medicine faculty, nurses, and allied health workers when requested.
- Participate in education forums such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Journal Club, and other standing didactic lectures related to subspecialty.
Research 5%
- Supervises and participates in research appropriate to field of interest related to Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Promote research and scholarly activities within the Department by example and encouragement.
IV. Service 65%
- Set an example as a highly skilled and conscientious practitioner of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery with a practice style that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities which will provide an example to future practitioners of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Maintain a practice of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in order to continue clinical proficiency.
- Provide a role model as a practitioner for faculty, house officers, students and fellow practitioners.
- Attend National meetings, symposia and committees related to Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Present papers and lectures at meetings of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery or related fields.
- Serve on committees where appropriate of National, Regional and State societies pertaining to Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Represent the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery on committees as requested by the Chair of the Department.

Qualifications
-
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- MD licensure in the State of Illinois, or the ability to obtain.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Successful completion of Fellowship Program in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
- Possess competency in all areas of Otolaryngology.
- Demonstrate an interest in undergraduate and residency training
