Encova Insurance is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Quality Assurance Specialist. The preferred candidate will be based in Columbus, Ohio, working a hybrid schedule from our corporate office. However, for highly qualified candidates residing outside the Columbus area, we are open to remote work arrangements from any of our payroll-registered states, as listed on our careers page. Candidates outside Columbus may be considered for home-based positions.

We are open to hiring at multiple seniority levels. The compensation range posted is inclusive of both seniority levels.

This role will report to the Assistant Vice President, Quality Assurance and Projects.

JOB OBJECTIVE

This role supports the implementation of the underwriting quality assurance program and processes. This role will be responsible for performing quality assurance reviews of the work completed by commercial lines underwriters. Additionally, this role will provide feedback to leadership for coaching and development of individual underwriter's knowledge and skills.

The role is charged with helping improve the quality and efficiency of the underwriting operation and supports developing technical competencies and best practices. This role will identify gaps and lead initiatives to enhance and implement quality assurance systems or applications ensuring efficiency and improving processes. Mentor and train others in quality assurance role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct comprehensive quality assurance audits of transaction files to evaluate compliance with quality standards, procedures, best practices, and authority thresholds.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, using relevant tools and techniques.
  • Provide detailed feedback and recommendations based on quality assurance audits, documenting findings, and presenting them to commercial lines leadership.
  • Provide training and support to underwriters on quality standards, procedures and best practices to ensure consistent adherence to quality guidelines.
  • Develop quality assurance processes, procedures, and assist in determining the subject matter, direction and focus of quality assurance projects.
  • Identify gaps and lead initiatives to enhance and implement quality assurance systems or applications to ensure operational efficiency to improve processes.
  • Act as a mentor and trainer for others in the quality assurance role.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of commercial lines processes, procedures and systems.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Commensurate experience may be considered.
  • Minimum eight years of commercial lines underwriting or experience in quality assurance within commercial lines preferred.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or other industry designations preferred.
  • General knowledge of insurance industry, practices, standards, and concepts within related operations and field work.
  • This position requires proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage assigned projects.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and provide feedback to individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-solving abilities and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting software (Guidewire/CoreSuite) and other relevant tools.
  • Strong customer service, networking and relationship skills.
  • Must be pro-active, driven and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
