Non-Tenure Track, Assistant Teaching Professor in Electrical Engineering

Position Overview:

FIU is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Teaching faculty position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Circuits, Electronics, Embedded Systems, C Programming, Linear Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Autonomous Systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative curriculum development, engage with dynamic student populations, and collaborate on research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction in Embedded Systems, C Programming, Linear Systems, and Artificial Intelligence across various undergraduate and graduate courses. This includes preparing course materials, delivering lectures, leading lab sessions, and assessing student performance.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with departmental faculty to develop, update, and enhance the curriculum, ensuring that course content remains current, relevant, and aligned with industry standards.
  • Advising and Mentorship: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, assisting them in achieving their educational and career goals.
  • Collaboration: Engage in collaborative research and teaching efforts within the department and across the university. This may include participating in interdisciplinary projects and contributing to the department's research initiatives.
  • Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including serving on committees, attending faculty meetings, and contributing to outreach and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Master's degree and substantial industry experience will also be considered.
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in teaching Embedded Systems, C Programming, Linear Systems, and Artificial Intelligence at the college or university level is highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Relevant industry experience in embedded systems, AI, or related fields is a plus.
  • Research Engagement: A record of or potential for research in one or more of the following areas: embedded systems, artificial intelligence, signal processing, or control systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to a diverse student population.
