Short Intro and About the Job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic B based in our Chatsworth, California manufacturing plant! In this role, you will ensure operations of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing corrective and preventive maintenance requirements on various types of industrial equipment including motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. While performing the duties of the job the employee will stand for an extended period of time, walk, bend, stoop, occasionally lift up to 50lbs, use arms and hands at or above shoulder height, work in high areas including the roof, and operate equipment including scissor lift. Employee will work with chemicals.

The base compensation for this position is $36.00 per hour and is eligible for overtime. This is a unionized role based on site and the work schedule is as follows (subject to availability):

    Second Shift: Monday - Friday (with occasional Saturday)

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns in manufacturing production equipment.
  • Rapidly assess, analyze, and resolve complicated problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, equipment repair, preventative and predictive maintenance in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Communicate and work as a team with other key personnel within the operation.
  • Compliance with personal safety, food safety, and environmental standards, at top of mind. This includes following all established maintenance processes to adhere and uphold all plant technical standards and ensure company compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations.


About You

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Possess 2-4 years of maintenance experience in a food production/manufacturing environment, repairing and troubleshooting mechanical issues on packaging and/or filling equipment, and other food processing equipment.
  • Experience with high-speed production equipment. Previous dairy, food and beverage industry maintenance experience strongly desired.
  • Experience in a combination of the following areas: PLC, instrumentation, pumps, mechanical, pneumatic, motors, electrical, hydraulic, lubrication, HVAC, refrigeration, freezers, compressors, utilities, and boilers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Knows all the safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics and follows them strictly at all times.
  • Knowledge of the risk of cross-contamination, basic chemical properties, and specific information of allergens in plant.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee will lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Working Environment Work is performed throughout the facility. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and Safety Toe footwear.
