Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health is a 182-bed treatment facility that specializes in quality behavioral health and substance abuse services for youth, adults and seniors. We offer a full continuum of care through an integrated system of inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, ECT Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the ECT unit.

The ECT Nurse Manager is responsible for the operational oversight of ECT activities, and will oversee all unit activities including, but not limited to, admissions, discharges and supervision of the assigned nursing staff. The ECT Nurse Manager directs and supervises the activities of the Nurses and the Mental Health Techs working on the unit as part of the nursing team. The ECT Nurse Manager will coordinate all medical codes, whether real or mock, and ensure they are carried out appropriately and safely. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected of the ECT Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing - BSN preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably six (6) months in psychiatric nursing
  • Combination of education and years of experience can substitute for degree requirement
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent

Experience:

  • Some experience in working with mental health population is required.
  • Knowledge of MS4 a plus
  • Insurance plan benefit coverages
  • Customer Service skills
  • Cardiac Monitor, AED, ECT Machine, Intravenous Access, Code Blue Response, Use of Nebulizer, ECT Recovery, Suction Machine, Glucometer, Equipment Testing, Malignant Hyperthermia, Depressive Symptomatology, Oxygen Delivery, Agitation and Sedation Scale, Time Out Protocol, EKG, Oxygen Tank and Regulator, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Urine Pregnancy Screen, Urine Drug Screen, ALSC, CPR, Handle With Care, Verbal De-Escalation

Licensure/Certification:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
  • CPR & ACLS certification

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching and management skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in Patient Care Practices, Medication Procedures, Therapeutic Boundaries, Common Psychiatric Diagnoses, Infection Control Practices, Fire Safety and Environment of Care Practices, Age Appropriate Care, Risk Management and Patient Behavior Management.
  • Demonstrated competency in Clinical Practice, Knowledge and Skills, Human Resources Management, Performance Improvement, Relationship Management, ECT Processes and Competencies
  • Well organized
  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and Performance Improvement
  • Effective communication skills
