Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Junior System Administrator to support the Global Transportation Planning (GTP) and Groups Operational Passenger System (GOPAX) program. The Junior System Administrator will assist in the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of systems, ensuring continuous uptime and optimal system performance.

This position is onsite at Scott AFB.



Duties & Responsibilities

    Assist in the installation, testing, and configuration of server systems in both Linux (RHEL, Linux) and Windows environments.
  • Perform basic system administration tasks such as configuring user permissions, managing file systems, and setting up network configurations.
  • Help maintain database environments (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DBMS), including backups, restores, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor system performance using tools like AWS CloudWatch, ensuring that servers, network, and applications run smoothly.
  • Support the team in applying system patches, updates, and configurations using automation tools like Jenkins, Gradle, and Maven.
  • Assist in troubleshooting server, application, and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Work on security tasks such as vulnerability scanning and remediation using Nessus and SonarQube.
  • Collaborate with development teams and senior system administrators to maintain a stable production environment.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with DoD security standards (RMF).


Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related disciplines, along with technical certifications in relevant programming languages and systems administration.
  • 1-2 years of experience in system administration, including working in multi-platform environments (Windows, Linux).
  • Knowledge of web servers (Apache, Microsoft IIS) and basic database administration (MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Basic proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages (Powershell, Shell scripting).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Docker) and security practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively with more senior team members.
