Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking two Junior Cyber Engineers to join the USTRANSCOM cybersecurity team. The Junior Cyber Engineers will assist in the implementation and management of RMF activities, vulnerability assessments, and security monitoring. This role is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in cybersecurity, providing hands-on experience in supporting secure information systems in compliance with DoD regulations.

This position is onsite at Scott AFB.



Duties & Responsibilities

    Assist in performing system vulnerability assessments and apply DoD RMF security controls.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSP) and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documents for system authorization and compliance.
  • Conduct manual and automated vulnerability scans using tools such as ACAS, Fortify, Nessus, and SonarQube, reporting findings and assisting in remediation efforts.
  • Contribute to implementing secure coding practices and maintaining system compliance with DISA STIGs and SRGs.
  • Participate in continuous monitoring efforts, ensuring that systems adhere to NIST SP 800-53 standards and other applicable DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and system administrators to assist with secure system configuration and security-focused configuration management.
  • Support cloud security strategies, including containerization and DevSecOps pipeline activities.
  • Assist in the security testing of systems during development and deployment to ensure the security of applications and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to security documentation, helping to maintain accurate reports on vulnerabilities and system security posture.


Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in information assurance, cybersecurity, or related fields, specifically within the DoD environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
  • Basic understanding of vulnerability scanning and secure system configurations using tools such as ACAS, Nessus, and Fortify.
  • Familiarity with RMF and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
  • Exposure to DISA STIGs/SRGs and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support senior engineers in cybersecurity operations.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting security findings and collaborating with team members.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic cybersecurity environment.
