Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a skilled Junior Database Administrator to join our team supporting the US Transportation Command GTP GOPAX program. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases, focusing on ensuring optimal performance, security, and high availability across multiple environments.

This position is onsite at Scott AFB.



Duties & Responsibilities

    Assist in configuring and managing databases like MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle DBMS across multiple environments.
  • Support Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and Amazon Linux systems to ensure database uptime and performance.
  • Execute and maintain scripts using Powershell, Windows Batch Scripting, and Shell Command Language for database operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Help maintain database security by supporting RMF compliance and using tools like Nessus/ACAS, webInspect, and HBSS.
  • Provide support in managing databases in cloud environments using AWS and VMware technologies.
  • Monitor and track database performance using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Gitlab, ensuring quick resolution of issues.
  • Assist with database integrations for web servers like Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, and Microsoft IIS.
  • Collaborate with senior administrators to implement automated provisioning and configuration management using Chef, SaltStack, CloudFormation, and Terraform.
  • Perform routine database backups, monitor system health, and resolve database performance issues under supervision.
  • Flexible schedule to support weekly after-hour Production deployments and to answer emergency problems in an on-call status.


Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; technical training accepted.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle DBMS.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS, XML, JSON, and YAML.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Understanding of vulnerability mitigation using tools such as Nessus, ACAS, and HBSS.
  • Willingness to learn and develop automation skills using Chef, Terraform, and similar tools.
