Job Title: Melter Trainee

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: The Melter Trainee will assist and learn the melting process in a manufacturing environment, gaining hands-on experience in operating melting furnaces, handling molten materials, and preparing raw materials for production. Under the guidance of experienced operators, the trainee will be trained on the safe and efficient operation of melting equipment, with the goal of becoming proficient in the role of a full Melter.

Must have one year plus experience as a Melter Trainee

Key Responsibilities:



  • Assist in operating and monitoring furnaces and other melting equipment under supervision.
  • Learn to safely handle and prepare raw materials, including loading furnaces with metal or other materials for melting.
  • Monitor furnace temperatures, adjust controls, and observe gauges to ensure the process meets production and quality specifications.
  • Assist with removing molten material and pouring it into molds or transferring it to the next stage of production.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance tasks as needed, such as cleaning furnaces and checking for wear or damage.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety procedures related to high-temperature environments.
  • Document production activities and process data, reporting any issues to the Melter or supervisor.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts in the event of equipment malfunctions or process deviations.
  • Participate in training sessions and hands-on learning opportunities to build skills and knowledge in the melting process.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in metalworking, foundry operations, or a related field is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about furnace operation and material handling.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work closely with experienced team members.
  • Strong attention to safety practices in a high-temperature industrial environment.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in hot environments.
  • Basic math and measurement skills for following production specifications.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
