Department Information

Housing and Residence Life is passionate about the Georgia Tech residential student experience. With 97% of all first-year students choosing to live on campus, we create spaces and opportunities for Yellow Jackets to grow and connect from their first day of college through their graduate studies. We are proud to support our students personal development and academic endeavors while providing a safe and comfortable living environment.

Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional halls, suites, and apartments, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200+ professional staff and 300+ student staff from six departments support residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents. We are housed within the Student Engagement and Well-Being division, that includes many student service offices.

Job Summary

The Senior Occupancy and Assignment Specialist supports managing and overseeing all housing assignment processes using the housing management software. This role includes managing bed space assignments for various student populations and overseeing roommate and room self-selection processes. The Senior Occupancy and Assignment Specialist is responsible for developing the assignment process timeline and assisting the team in addressing escalated inquiries and issues related to resident assignments and occupancy. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Support the management and optimization of housing assignment systems, utilizing advanced technical skills to handle complex occupancy tasks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate system performance.

Job Duty 2 -

Concentrate on critical occupancy aspects, including system maintenance, data accuracy, and resolving complex assignment challenges independently, ensuring efficient and reliable processes for all resident groups.

Job Duty 3 -

Act as a subject matter expert in handling and resolving complex occupancy issues, working independently to analyze problems, provide technical solutions, and streamline housing assignment processes with minimal oversight.

Job Duty 4 -

Analyze occupancy data and trends, providing detailed insights and actionable recommendations based on specialized expertise to improve the housing assignment system's efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.

Job Duty 5 -

Support the development and implementation of the annual assignment process timeline and ensure optimized occupancy management operations during implementation.

Job Duty 6 -

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Four to six years of job-related experience

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $23.02-$31.30/hr.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

  • This job requires advanced knowledge of administrative processes and customer service skills.
  • Skills in oral and written communication are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 360 computer applications
  • Knowledge of StarRez Residential Management software is preferred
