Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.74 - $34.48/hr. The full salary range for this position is $28.07 - $48.28/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
Under general supervision, serves as an analyst and Development Coordinator for the Intercollegiate Athletics team in the Office of Development, supporting a complex and multifaceted program and supporting all fundraisers within the unit. Analyst reports to the Deputy Athletic Director, Development, maintaining a dotted line for general supervision to the Directors of Prospect Management and Development Research as it relates to research and prospect management processes. Provides leadership for analytical functions that support the strategic goals, initiatives, and projects as outlined by the Deputy Athletics Director, Development , leading toward philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and organizations. Performs high-level, sophisticated research to identify new prospects, detailed analysis on donor giving, coordination and execution of moves management meetings for development officer portfolio management (including, but not limited to data entry and records updates), donor follow-up action items, and analytic support to inform development officer travel. Additionally, the Analyst helps to coordinate and prepare development officers, senior administrators, and academic and program stakeholders for donor visits, solicitations, high-level events, and development-related travel. Develops, reviews, and edits sophisticated donor reports and presentations (for donor cultivation, stewardship, etc.) as well as donor proposals and gift letters. Maintains a close and effective working relationship with other development units, including Prospect Services (Development Research and Prospect Management), Advancement Services, and Donor Relations & Stewardship, facilitating collaborative efforts between teams. The Analyst will be privy to sensitive materials and information; therefore, the position requires the utmost degree of confidentiality. #LI-KA1
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 1-3 years of experience using strong organizational skills and unfailing attention to detail and accuracy.
- 1-3 years of demonstrated experience using excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Suite and demonstrated ability to quickly learn various software programs and application portals.
- Interpersonal skills to develop working positive relationships within the department, division, and cross-functional team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience working in the non-profit or corporate sector is a plus.
- Working knowledge of database, biographical, financial and other research systems and tools.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- May be called upon to work occasional evenings and weekends at various Intercollegiate Athletics, Development Office, Institutional Advancement or campus-wide events.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
30% Development Research & Analysis
- Reviews and analyzes data as it relates to fundraising strategies, prospect identification and management, and associated trends.
- Under the general direction of the Director of Development Services, Central Development Research and the Deputy Athletics Director, Development, conducts qualification research, verifying specific and sometimes conflicting information on donors and prospects (individuals, foundations, and corporations). Includes identification of new prospects and analysis to ascertain capacity and readiness to give, providing related analytic reporting, and suggesting reasonable engagement strategies to fundraisers.
- Makes recommendations to the Deputy Athletics Director, Development, for large (50+) data set screenings and research catalogs based on initiative or geographical region. Analyzes results of screening data.
- Synthesizes material from multiple sources, compiles and edits into coherent, accurate, and concise profiles and summaries, using established standards of style, grammar, and format.
- Provides analytical support utilizing a solid understanding of UCSB Foundation financial reports, the database (currently Ellucian Advance), AWA reports, and UC policies and practices.
- Queries the divisional database to identify and segment target populations, analyze prospect and donor constituencies, and support a range of business decisions.
- Provides analytic support to inform development officer travel plans/itineraries by identifying existing donors and new prospects of interest in various geographic regions.
- Helps coordinate and prepare development officers and senior administrators for donor visits, solicitations, high-level events, and development-related travel; specific tasks may include preparing donor profiles, event briefings, travel itineraries, etc.
45% Portfolio Management & Analysis
- Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of prospect and gift opportunity details in the divisional database, including biographic, meeting outcomes, and next steps for assigned development officers.
- Performs high-level analytical research and data entry, ensuring proper portfolio tracking and composition, and maintenance of biographical information on entities in the divisional database. Works collaboratively with Advancement Services to ensure the data integrity of entity information.
- Proactively plans, organizes, attends, tracks, and coordinates follow-up for prospect strategy meetings and portfolio reviews for fundraisers within the unit.
- Responsible for pulling and reviewing monthly prospect reports including but not limited to, development officer activity, moves management, and gift expectancy.
- Provides complex prospect analysis for senior managers including identifying target areas for prospect pool growth, current prospect activity and solicitations, and the number of prospects per initiative or program.
- Interprets the content of narrative reports and other submitted information to pull out key information for database updates and analytical reports.
15% Donor Relations & Events
- Supports the Athletics Development team's cultivation and stewardship activities. Tasks include, but aren't limited to event coordination and logistics, identifying prospects for invitation, preparing participant briefing documents, sending invitations, tracking RSVP's, run of show management, staffing support, and coordination with Events Management and Protocol.
- Supports gameday events as needed, at the direction of the Deputy Athletics Director, Development. Key tasks for event support include creating strategic event invitation lists, preparing briefing materials in partnership with development assistants and attending events to assist with execution.
- Helping coordinate and execute donor stewardship emails that are sent to donors and prospects. May include standardized newsletters and outreach to provide updates and stewardship to donors and prospects.
- Collects data and information and creates impact reports for athletics donors.
10% Resources & Training
- Maintains an active awareness of the goals, objectives, and directions of the development program
- Adheres to Office of Development Prospect Services best practices and policies for prospect & portfolio management and development research protocols and metrics.
- Coordinates closely with Regional and Parent & Family Giving development assistants on all aspects of related job functions.
- Serves as unit representative to inform their team of prospect research and tracking policies and best practices, as well as Advances processes
- Maintains a close and effective working relationship with other development units, facilitating collaborative efforts between teams.
- Stays abreast of current and emerging trends in prospect management, philanthropy, fundraising, and higher education and shares information research and prospect management colleagues.
- Actively participates in development, analyst, and/or division-wide group meetings.
- The Analyst will be privy to sensitive materials, information, and planning; therefore, the position requires the utmost degree of confidentiality adhering to ethical guidelines of both the University and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
