Job Summary:

As part of the External Relations marketing team, the alumni relations specialist will work both independently and collaboratively to plan, coordinate and execute the college's major events, alumni and stakeholder engagement efforts and communications to support the college's strategic goals and initiatives. The alumni relations specialist is responsible for planning events to build stronger alumni and stakeholder relationships, enhancing annual giving efforts and assisting with marketing projects. This position requires creativity, critical thinking, project management, and the ability to work with internal and external groups.

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) is a top-ranked engine of scientific discovery, with researchers working in biological sciences; health and nutrition; food and agriculture; environmental sustainability; and business, communication and society. Responsibilities:
Plans and implements alumni programs and assists in the execution of alumni and stakeholder strategies in support of unit advancement goals.

  • 10% Monitors reach and effectiveness of alumni campaigns, projects, and initiatives
  • 35% Plans events and programs according to established goals and objectives
  • 10% Communicates with participants, presenters, vendors and others to execute in-person and online programs
  • 35% Provides project management and execution of alumni programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
  • 5% Tracks and reconciles department spending
  • 5% Drafts digital alumni communications, including e-newsletters, invitations, webpages, and other content

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Event planning experience (e.g., logistics, vendor management, guest experience, budgeting)
- Project management skills and attention to detail including managing multiple projects, timely communicating with stakeholders, creating timelines, etc.,
- Experience writing and creating content (e.g., social media, email marketing, web copy, solicitations, or other communications)

Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years professional experience such as event planning, alumni relations, communications, marketing or fundraising/development
- Experience with e-mail marketing platforms, such as Eloqua
- Experience with website content management system, such as WordPress
- Experience collecting project metrics to measure effectiveness


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $48,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum salary for this position is $48,000. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits. Additional Information:

- Occasional nights and weekends may be required for events
