Job Description

The role of the Admission and Discharge Registered Nurse (A/D RN) involves assisting with the admission and discharge process as well as providing associated patient education in support of hospital throughput. Due to the complexity of care provided and specific bed availability, the priority of the A/D RN changes according to the daily needs of the organization. The A/D RN responds to requests for admission and discharge assistance in various clinical departments throughout the hospital. The A/D RN may be asked to perform a range of tasks, including but not limited to partnering with staff nurses for patient procedures such as phlebotomy, initiating or discontinuing IVs as part of the admission/discharge process, and responding to urgent situations as a member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), Code Blue, or BERT teams.

Minimum Requirements
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri.
  • Three to Four years of experience in general Med/Surg, Telemetry, or ED clinical settings, including the completion of appropriate clinical competencies.
  • Current BLS and ACLS verification.
  • Must have excellent interviewing & physical assessment skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
