Deputy Program Manager

LOCATION: White Sands, New Mexico

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: Top Secret (Active/Eligible)

CERTIFICATION: PMP (preferred)

TRAVEL: Estimated Up to 20%

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Program Manager to support the Army Division on the WSMR Mission Support Services program. The Deputy Program Manager (DPM) will be responsible for ensuring work requirements are executed timely and effectively, serving as the alternate to the Program Manager, and maintaining seamless coordination with government personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance in accordance with DoD regulations

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of five (5) years-preferably ten (10) years-of demonstrated engineering and management experience on contracts or projects of similar organizational complexity and financial scope.

  • Experience managing civil, mechanical, computer, electrical, and electronics engineering disciplines

  • Proven experience overseeing work of project managers, engineers, support staff, and administrative personnel

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience, demonstrated knowledge, or education in the DoD contracting process

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience, demonstrated knowledge, or education in the DoD acquisition process related to the test career field - or willingness to obtain required training within 1 year of contract award

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with documented supervisory experience

  • Well-organized, results-oriented, and a team player with sound decision-making skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • PMP certification or equivalent program management credential

  • Strong customer relationship management and leadership skills

  • Lean Six Sigma certification and/or Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) training preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the designated alternate for the Program Manager, acting on their behalf during absences

  • Be available within two (2) hours during and after normal duty hours to respond to government requests

  • Manage day-to-day operations ensuring successful and timely execution of work requirements

  • Coordinate and oversee the work of engineering and administrative staff across multiple disciplines

  • Interface with government customers and stakeholders to discuss and resolve programmatic issues

  • Conduct performance tracking, reporting, and quality assurance reviews

  • Support the development of project plans, schedules, and resource allocations

  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, policies, and procedures

  • Provide regular status updates and program briefings to leadership and stakeholders
