Candidates will be responsible for answering call requests for inter-facility transports of patients from various facilities. Candidates will arrange/schedule transportation via ground ambulances and air transport, utilizing WV OEMS crew configuration standards. Utilization of a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to accomplish the tasks is essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent. PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Current West Virginia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Certification. EXPERIENCE: 1. Two years of experience as a call dispatcher. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Ability to answer phone calls from both internal and external customers to ensure that all hospital policies are being met and to provide the customers with the best service available. 2. Safely directs and coordinates communications with ground ambulances and helicopters. Monitors location and maintains communication with ground ambulances and helicopters to fulfill MedCom regulations. Follows progress of ground vehicles as well as aircraft when needed. 3. Ability to multi-task to coordinate ground ambulances and aircraft to ensure the safe delivery of the customers that utilize our services. 4. Ability to learn the operations of our CAD system to ensure that information is being properly entered to utilize all ground and air crews efficiently. 5. Call-Taking: Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner while assisting and directing the call in the appropriate manner. 6. Obtain necessary, required information toactivate a computer aided dispatch (CAD) record. 7. Consistently follow standardized call-taking andinformation gathering process. 8. Enter all transport request information indispatch software in real-time. 9. Assist dispatching job role, as necessary. 10. Complete all necessary request documentation including post transport 11. Dispatching: Quickly recognize transport requests that appearin the Open Work screen of the CAD that may have been added by another communicator or dispatcher. 12. Determine the mode of transportation required forthe request and determine the status of the request. 13. Utilize the CAD system to ensure the closest, available, appropriate resource is activated. 14. Notify appropriate resource and receiveacceptance of the request. 15. Monitor and track all vehicle movements ensuring proper information is being given and received for all mode of transport 16. Alert specific receiving hospital departments ofall transport updates. 17. Complete all necessary request documentationincluding post transport. 18. Assist with call taking job role, as necessary. Must demonstrate alertness at all times and be able to withstand high amounts of stress.
