Job Summary Plans, directs, evaluates and communicates the activities of specific patient care units and clinical ancillary departments as assigned. Directs development of nursing and designated clinical ancillary services, policies, rules and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation and professional standards. Directs development and monitors implementation of quality improvement efforts for nursing and designated clinical ancillary services. Coordinates surveys of nursing and designated clinical ancillaries by regulatory accreditation and other agencies. Directs, monitors and evaluates nursing orientation and selected nursing education programs. Directs, monitors and evaluates nursing and designated ancillary information services. Leads various activities as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer-Market and the Campus Executive including representing the nursing organization and designated clinical ancillary services for various meetings and functions. May have campus oversight.
Essential Functions

Provides effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital's primary functions. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services. Develops and implements budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs. Manages department human resources by determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; planning, implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management. Assesses and improves the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities. Manages information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement. Manages the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks, preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors. Leads various activities including representing the nursing practice organization for various meetings and functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing program that is approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing Experience - Five (5) years in nursing practice coordinating the planning, directing and evaluation of patient care. Five (5) years in a nursing leadership role.
