Safety Superintendent

The Safety Superintendent is the safety subject matter expert for their shift. They will provide leadership for shift supervisors and shift personnel to maintain safe operation in all work areas. The role shares daily responsibility for helping ensure safety across the site. The role will inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Participates in investigations of injuries, illnesses, and other reportable events. This includes assisting with program development, reviewing and auditing as well as training of personnel related to facility safety programs. This position will also be heavily involved with emergency response. Must be able to work a rotating shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to the safety and health of the site personnel and operation.
• Assist with conducting injury and accident investigations.
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct Safety training as needed.
• Perform audit of the permit process, provide performance feedback, and give recognition for permit execution excellence.
• Improve safety awareness through safety meetings, inspections, training, and communications.
• Coach and train managers, supervisors, and operators to identify and correct unsafe acts andconditions.
• Conduct site Safety and Security audits to identify areas performing above and below site standards.
• Assist with industrial hygiene evaluations.
• Conduct and follow up on Environmental, Health, Safety, and Hazard inspections.
• Support and demonstrate an injury-free workplace through his/her actions.
• Develop and maintain strong communication within the organizations/departments.
• Maintain current knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
• Monitor site security and work closely with the site security team.
• Partner with Corporate EHS and other SNF's EHS personnel to leverage the Company Safety, Health, Security, and Environmental to best practices.
• Perform area inspections to ensure proper personal protective equipment is in use and recommend improvements as needed.
• Provide site EHS orientation training.
• Respond to the incidents or potential hazards and assist with the investigation.
• Support cross-plant/departmental teams with training and projects as necessary.
• Train employees in safety and security topics.
• Inspect the premises, test the alarm systems, detect safety hazards, and ensure safety, health, and security rules are posted and followed.

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field ishighly preferred.
• 4-6 years ofrelevant manufacturing experience instead of a Bachelor's Degree is considered.
• Familiar with federal and state regulatory requirements in air, water, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, and OSHA.
• Strong auditing skills (processes and system applications).
• Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a dynamic team.
• Detail-oriented, able to adhere to deadlines, and have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
