Curriculum Developer & Trainer at NREC

The Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy (CMRA) is seeking an experienced Robotics Curriculum Developer & Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with CMRA staff to design, develop, and implement research-based curricula focused on robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and related technologies. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing STEM education through innovative curriculum design, teacher training, and support of outreach and research initiatives.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with CMRA staff to create and refine engaging, research-based curricula in robotics, AI, and STEM education.
  • Develop instructional materials, including lesson plans, activities, assessments, and digital resources for students and educators.
  • Assist in delivering in-person and online professional development training for educators implementing CMRA's robotics and AI courses and other duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience in developing and delivering curricula, particularly in robotics, AI, or STEM education.
  • Strong instructional design skills, with the ability to create engaging and research-backed learning experiences for K-12 and higher education settings.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and robotics platforms (e.g., LEGO, VEX, Python, ROS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with educational research and proposal writing is a plus.
  • Passion for robotics, AI, and STEM education, with a commitment to fostering inclusive and diverse learning environments.

Additional responsibilities for this position

  • Participate in outreach activities to promote CMRA's offerings and engage with a diverse community of educators and students.
  • Contribute to proposal development for educational research projects and funding opportunities.
  • Support CMRA research efforts by conducting classroom observations, data analysis, and contributing to research reports.
  • Stay up to date with trends and advancements in robotics, AI, and educational technologies, and apply these insights to curriculum development.
  • Assist with other CMRA activities as needed, including workshops, conferences, and public presentations.
