Job Description

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Director of Grow-Finish Health position available in the Guymon, OK office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the Live Operations team. The Director of Grow-Finish Health will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive health strategies for wean to finish commercial operations that align with company goals and industry standards. This position will collaborate heavily with the GF production and Vet Service teams to ensure the most impactful initiatives in animal welfare, biosecurity and health management.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive health programs for grow-finish operations.
  • Establish and ensure compliance of protocols associated with disease prevention, biosecurity, vaccination and treatment that improve system performance.
  • Oversee disease surveillance programs, manage health data analysis, and ensure rapid response to disease outbreaks.
  • Collaborate with vet service and production teams to adjust health protocols based on real time data and field observations.
  • Communicate regularly with farm and production managers, providing training on disease prevention, health monitoring and biosecurity measures.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and continually refine biosecurity and biocontainment policies within the commercial growing pig system.
  • Mentor and lead vet service support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Manage departmental health budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, including identifying cost savings opportunities while maintaining high health standards.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies, research, and trends in veterinary medicine and pork production.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders, academic partners, and research organizations to drive innovation in grow-finish health management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:



  • Completion of a DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college.
  • Industry experience (2+ years) in production system or veterinary clinic with focus on swine health.
  • In-depth knowledge of diseases, treatments, and management practices in pork production.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in swine health. Along with knowledge of federal, state and industry animal health regulations.
  • Experience developing and leading health management programs in large-scale livestock operations.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct thorough health analyses and devise strategies for enhanced outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a history of successfully managing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    • Ability to work closely with production managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders for integrated and effective operations.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with executives, production teams, and industry partners.
  • Competent in the development and assessment of biosecurity policy and processes.


Preferred:



  • Board certification in Swine Health Management
  • Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado where the company operates (can be obtained post-hire if needed).
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing teams in the field of swine health, biosecurity, and grow-finish operations.

  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
