Overview
Responsibilities
- Engineering Knowledge: Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
- Independent Decision-Making: Makes decisions independently on engineering problems, practices, and methods and may create and refine unique design solutions. For licensed staff, this includes stamping/sealing one's drawings/documents and those done as the professional in "responsible charge."
- Representation: Represents the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.
- Project Management: Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs medium to large engineering projects or several smaller complex projects, ensuring budget adherence, schedule adherence, quality control, and inter-discipline coordination.
- Quality Control: Responsible for acceptance or rejection of major items involving materials, equipment, manufacturer's quality, and field construction.
- Technical Specialist: May serve as a staff advisor or consultant in the role of technical specialist requiring highly specialized knowledge and skills, and the use of advanced techniques.
- Supervision: Provides supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters, and/or unusual problems and developments.
- Team Coordination: May supervise, coordinate, and review the work of a team of engineers and designers working on the same assigned project.
- Scope Development: Helps develop the scope of work and engineering hours for new proposed work.
- Foundation Design: Designs foundation systems including conventional shallow spread footings, mat foundations, driven & drilled/bored piling, ground improvement, etc.
- Structural Analysis: Analyzes existing structures for new loads and provides recommendations for strengthening as required.
- Design Sketching: Sketches engineering designs utilizing 3D design tools and develops them into completed working details and drawings based on solid engineering fundamentals.
- Scope Change Warnings: Provides supervisor and project manager with scope of work change warnings.
- Professional Education: Maintains continuing professional education in discipline.
- Client Interaction: Takes part in client contact and business development activities.
- Client Meetings: Meets with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
- Travel: Travel required, mostly local, but some out-of-state travel.
What We Offer:
- Salary Range: $115,000-$125,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Qualifications
Who We Need:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
- Certification: SE required with eight (8) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s).
- Software Experience: Experience with structural analysis software including RISA and Profis. Experience with Revit. Experience with other software such as BIM360, BlueBeam, and Navisworks.
- Knowledge: Solid knowledge and understanding of structural fundamentals, Building Codes, and Material Standards. Knowledge of seismic design/detailing requirements of concrete structures, steel structures, and foundations.
- License: Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
- Flexibility: This position is a hybrid model that will require commuting to our downtown Atlanta, GA office.
