David Evans and Associates (DEA) is seeking a TransportationEngineer-in-Training (EIT) for our Portland, OR office. In this role, you will support a variety of projects within our Transit and Rail group, as well as road and highway projects within our Transportation Business Unit. Responsibilities:
As an EIT, your role will be varied and engaging, including but not limited to:
- Collaborating on all phases of projects: drafting, design, 3D visualizations, quality reviews, and cost estimating.
- Performing design tasks on a wide range of transportation projects, including transit, multi-modal, complete streets, freeways, and highways.
- Preparing and modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and designs.
- Analyzing maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for design projects.
- Assisting with post-design construction support, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations.
- Performing construction inspections on a project-specific basis.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines such as bridge design, water resources, traffic design, and surveying.
- Assisting with utility coordination, including conflict analysis and working with public and private utility companies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil3D.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Drafting and design experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads, particularly in alignments and 3D design surfaces.
- Experience working on transportation projects.
- Construction experience.
- 1+ years of experience designing transportation projects.

Potential salary range is $66,000-85,000 depending on location and experience
