Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Remote Cybersecurity Research Writer for the Cyber Security Regulatory Program Development Support Services (CSRPDSS), supporting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • BA/BS degree
    • Engineering degree preferred
  • 3 Years of cybersecurity experience
  • One advanced cybersecurity certification.
    • DOD 8570 matrix will be sufficient. The following link provides the certification matrix: https://public.cyber.mil/wid/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/
  • Ability to obtain an NRC Security Clearance
  • Experience performing cybersecurity inspections (audits) on industrial control systems (ICS) (e.g., physical security systems, building automations, process control, etc.).
  • 5 years of experience as a Research Writer (or a similar role)
  • Excellent English skills
  • Impeccable writing and proofreading skills
  • Strong ability to present complex information as easy-to-understand
  • Thorough understanding of the industry-specific terminology
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Publications in academic journals.
  • Knowledgeable in the cybersecurity framework (e.g., NIST 800-53, 800-82, 800-37, NEI 08-09 and 13-10).
  • Thorough understanding and implementation of federal cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., FISMA and RG 5.71).
  • Knowledgeable with cyber-attack methodologies and defensive strategies, adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Experience with of NRC's Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and regulatory requirements for nuclear power reactor cyber security programs (i.e., Title 10 CFR Part 73.54).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Propose content outlines and writing plans that aligns with project's Statement of Work/Work Plan.
  • Conduct extensive analysis and research for cybersecurity topics, including new technological developments, as it pertains to NRC licensees and 10 CFR 73.54, "Protection of Digital Computer and Communication Systems and Networks." The research may include consideration of licensees' development and implementation of cybersecurity programs.
  • Gather results of research and interviews with subject matter experts to draft a Technical Letter Reports (TLR) with accuracy that is easy to understand for non-technical users.
  • Deliver TLR milestones in a timely manner.
  • You will work with a team of writers and be responsible for writing, editing, updating, and reviewing technical content.
  • Develop and/or maintain detailed database of appropriate reference materials, including research.
  • Identify new opportunities to conduct research and transform it into a TLR.
