Description

Provide support for EMS educational programs for entry level EMS students and for current EMS providers, providing transformative educational offerings to meet stakeholder needs. Schedule/reschedule lab support instructors for various training activities. Provide assistance to clinical coordinator in reviewing and ensuring student readiness for clinical placements. Maintain EMS courses and students in DHS E-licensing system.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with CoAEMSP accreditation activities including distributing and collecting survey information, data collection, and completion of various forms needed for accreditation.
  2. Assist in the planning of EMS refreshers for local Fire/EMS agencies and non-affiliated providers; evaluate and implement training.
  3. Assist instructional staff to develop training lesson plans to ensure safety and consistency. Assist in recruitment, interviews, onboarding and continued development of instructional staff.
  4. Meet one-on-one and/or in groups with EMS students for mentoring/tutoring /study session. Reinforce technical skills the students learned during training. Provide oversight of EMS Open Lab process.
  5. Assist clinical coordinator with reviewing and ensuring EMS students and clinical instructors have completed all health requirements for clinical placement.
  6. Prepare students for certification and licensure. Maintain courses, instructors and students in E-licensing system including reviewing student training permit status and completion status of programs for licensure. Schedule and coordinate National Registry Exams for EMS providers.
  7. Assist lead instructors with program orientations for EMS levels.
  8. Prepare and setup multimedia, training and safety equipment.
  9. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
  10. Support College managers in quality and process improvement activities.
  11. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to recognize safe and unsafe Fire EMS training practices
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories
  • Interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work processes
  • Ability to analyze Fire EMS training requirements and supplemental training
  • Familiarity with computer software applications such as word processing and spreadsheets
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current EMS Certification
  • Five years of work experience in the EMS field involving training, evaluation, coordinating or supervision
  • 2 years work experience teaching or training adult learners
