Job Description

The Office of Engineering Career Services (ECS) invites applications for a self-motivated and student-focused professional for the position of Employer Relations Coordinator. The Office of Engineering Career Services works collaboratively to provide professional development and employment opportunities for students and represents the College of Engineering to employers (including alumni) seeking to recruit Engineering students.
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean and Director of Recruitment and Retention, the Employer Relations Coordinator will be the first point of contact for employer relationships impacting Engineering students' professional development, including but not limited to internship, co-op support, and full-time positions, employer recruitment consultation, and events related to employment for Engineering students.

Responsibilities:

  • Responds to employer/industry questions through ECS resource account
  • Lead on planning, implementing, and evaluating employer engagement events (tabling meet and greets, info sessions, site visits, classroom visits, etc.).
  • Coordinates two large-scaled career fairs of more than 300 employers per year and coordinate marketing efforts to increase employer and student attendance.
  • Coordinates industry meetings and events, book meeting space, and prepare meeting materials.
  • Maintains knowledge of the industry of engineering, particularly information related to internship, co-op, and full-time positions and competitive regional companies employing Mizzou Engineering students.
  • Coordinates Handshake employer-facing functions (employer engagement event promotion and career fair registration)
  • Collaborates with campus and UM system units such as Extension, MU Career Services Council, and other relevant working groups.
  • Collaborates with other team members on critical projects as needed, including but not limited to: student organization advising, Outcomes survey coordination support, and the Career Readiness program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional evening and weekend obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Humanities, Business, Education, or related field.
Interest in STEM education and career paths.
Skilled in written and verbal communication.
Master's degree in Humanities, Business, Education or related field preferred.
Familiarity with the engineering industry and corporate recruitment practices.
Familiarity with internship and co-ops for engineering students.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $21.28 to $27.00 per hour
Grade: GGS-009
