Job Description

Are you ready for a change from bedside nursing? As a RN Clinical Research Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare. Your strong clinical and critical thinking skills will be put to use as you assess patient status, implement clinical trial protocol interventions and partner with highly respected clinical research teams. You will learn new skills and get an understanding of how new medications or devices are tested, approved and on the market.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

* Collect research participant data/information as outlined in the study protocol or nursing workflow sheet such as demographics, medication history, health history, height, weight, blood pressure.
* Start IVs and draw blood per study protocol.
* Administer questionnaires per study protocol
* Administer investigational medication products and monitor participant for adverse events
* Following clear instructions and guidelines, administer various hemodynamic tests such as spirometry, blood glucose testing, etc.
* Monitors for adverse events post-dose of investigational products and communicates concerns with investigative team.
* Complete required IRB training (CITI human subject and Good Clinical Practice).
* Industry-sponsored specific study training.
* This position is primarily nights and weekends.
* This position will be comprised of "last minute requests" for shifts based on participants who meet entry criteria in the moment.
* CTSU is a rapidly growing unit with a great deal of potential for advance and expand the role in the future.
* You will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of participants from infants, children and adults.
* This role will be supported by hospital services such as IV and rapid response teams as needed.
* This is an opportunity to work in the state-of-the-art clinical research & trial units at University Hospital and NextGen building
* The shift are 4-12 hours each. You will have the choice whether to accept or decline a shift when offered.
* Required to clock 24 hours per three-month period to maintain position.
* Annual mandatory training required to maintain position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job.

This position is active and requires occasional ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
Rarely, is there any participant lifting or moving.
Minimal assistance with participant ADLs such as bathing, repositioning or cleaning.

Shift

Primarily Nights and weekends, 4-12 hours each shift
Office/Administrative Hours: Yes - Position will have Office/Admin Hours
Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: Yes

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Two (2) years of RN experience in an area of specialization. Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years acute care, or critical care RN experience

Credentials: BLS and/or ACLS; Specialty Nursing certification

Niche Professional Interests: Caring for pediatric through older adult populations

Leadership Approach: Situational

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $41.34 per hour
Grade: PAT-RN4
University Title: NURSE CLINICIAN
