Job Summary The Production Supervisor (Molding) is a role in which the person will perform their supervisory tasks as outlined for their assigned areas. Their responsibility is to ensure that all required standards and procedures and production and maintenance schedules are met. Compliance with safety, efficiency and ISO procedures is a must. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor production and perform/assign changeovers based on the production planners schedule.
- Assure work orders and packets are assigned to the correct presses and entered in IQMS as needed.
- Run capacity, efficiency, and utilization and production reports as required.
- Work with the Equipment Maintenance and Mold Maintenance technicians on the repair and PM scheduling of molding equipment and tooling.
- Solve production and equipment issues as they arise using any resources available to maintain production
- Will need a working knowledge of SAP screens needed for production and inventory monitoring
- Will need a working knowledge of EIQ screens needed for production monitoring
- Will need a working knowledge of Kronos (or equivalent) time keeping software.
- Ensure that all production forms, documentation, and procedures as well as production monitoring systems (computer monitoring, etc.) are always correctly used and followed
- Work with the Quality Assurance department to ensure the product produced meets our current requirements. Have a full understanding in the inspection methods needed to qualify production parts
- Work with the Engineering Department on the development, implementation and improvement of the specialized and standard equipment used in the molding and tip assembly process.
- Work with the Document Control department to create, maintain and update all forms, work instructions, set up sheets etc... used in the molding and tip assembly departments.
- Work with the PLM for the department on issues and provide information as needed.
- Ensure the shifts production and departmental issues information is communicated between shifts
- Support all needed NBS NEXT initiatives in their departments.
- Manages a team of technical injection molding employees in all three shifts.
- Uses Kronos to verify timecards and approve time sheets weekly.
- Work with HR as needed on personnel and staffing issues.
- Balance employees' PTO schedule with department manager to assure coverage. Monitor employees' PTO usage to ensure PTO is not exceeded
- Arrange coverage for any overtime hours as needed.
- Perform all required employee evaluations (semi and annual)
- Responsible for assuring for the training of employees in company policies, procedures and all job functions using all available methods
- Track and update the training status in IQMS for their employees annually.
- Responsible for managing personnel conflicts and issues to eliminate problems and if needed, bring them to upper management for solutions. Ensure all employees are being treated fairly and with respect
- Ensure employees are always following all safety standards (mandatory eyeglasses, safe use of tools and equipment, etc...)
- Involved in the interview process when hiring new employees for their departments.
- Responsible for assuring the molding department and its storage and warehouse areas are always maintained to a clean and organized state
- Responsible for monitoring the production area to ensure a safe working environment always.
- Have all required inspections and audits performed in a timely manner
- Work with their staff on any 6S projects in the molding and tip assembly departments.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all staffing members.
- 5+ years of related experience in plastics processing and process development techniques
- Ability to perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, etc. as well as use of any formulas associated with the development of process and the running of DOE's
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English and have the ability to read and write detailed reports, summaries and instructions needed in the performance of this job
- Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- 5-7 years Injection Molding Supervisory experience
- A solid knowledge of the use of robots and automation in the production process.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret various graphs.
- Tooling maintenance experience.
- Solid knowledge of molding machines and auxiliary equipment to aid in their repairs.
