Sr. Director, Corporate Strategy
Location: Remote, with a requirement to reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: Portland, ME; Boston, MA & Washington, DC. About The Role We are looking for a candidate who wants to be a part of shaping the future of a dynamic growth company. In this crucial role, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Strategy to help drive our short, medium and long-term strategy. You will work with a team of talented strategists to craft a compelling vision for our future, identify new market opportunities and work on strategic projects across WEX. This individual will serve in a flexible capacity to own and drive a portfolio of strategic projects, including business strategy, market research and analysis, priority setting, and execution planning. This individual will play a critical role in defining WEX's strategic direction and partnering to resolve some of our most critical strategic questions. This position sits within the Chief Strategy Officer organization and will be expected to partner closely across our commercial, product, finance and operational teams. At this time this position is an independent contributor but over time it is expected this role will expand with direct responsibility of multiple direct reports. Travel is expected ~20-30% annually What You Will Do: * Partner across the organization, including senior leadership, to define our long-term strategic direction and success criteria. * Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex business and corporate strategy projects in close collaboration with a highly matrixed set of stakeholders. * Conduct in-depth analyses of market trends, competitive landscapes, and potential risks and opportunities. * Develop and evaluate strategic options, using financial modeling and scenario planning techniques. * Support, train, mentor and upskill more junior members of the Strategy Team * Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure broad stakeholder alignment and buy-in to strategic outputs and the overall strategy. * In partnership with the Senior Leadership, execute against the strategic planning process, including facilitating strategic thinking sessions and developing presentations for the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors. * Partner with the Office of the CEO to track and measure the performance of strategic initiatives and recommend course corrections as needed. Who You Are: * An experienced leader with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful corporate and/or functional strategies. * An MBA or equivalent degree in business, economics, or a related field. * 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, business development, or a similar role * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. * A solid team player with a customer-centric approach * A strong sense of ownership in your work * Deadline-driven, organized and able to multitask * Hunger to sprint/hustle from one project to the next, and iterate quickly * Comfortable with ambiguous, ever-changing situations * Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels. * A collaborative and team-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points: * 5+ years of experience at a top-tier Strategy firm [e.g. McKinsey, BCG or Bain]. * Experience in B2B Payments, particularly open-loop (i.e. Visa, Mastercard) economics, technologies, and commercialization * Prior professional experience in the mobility, Health Benefits, or Travel verticals * Expertise in financial modeling and scenario planning. * A strong understanding of M&A and other corporate development activities. The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
