Raymond West is looking for a dynamic Field Battery Technician to join our Service team! The Field Battery Technician is responsible for planning and coordinating activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating, and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive.
- Travels to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customer's equipment.
- Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects.
- Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.
- Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.
- Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customer's batteries at customers location.
- Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repairs chargers.
- Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Maintains records of performance reports.
- Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent Organizational Time Management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments.
- Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Previous customer service experience in field support.
- A basic mechanical aptitude.
- Previous experience working with hand and power tools.
- Able to read and comprehend manuals, procedures, and other written documents written in English.
- Able to solve simple formulas and do basic math.
- Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
- Able and willing to operate a forklift truck.
- Must be able to do overnight travel.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations.
- A basic electrical understanding.
- The use of test equipment and reading schematics.
- The ability to quickly analyze situations and make a decision and provide immediate feedback to the customer.
- Functions without direct supervision.
Education/Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Travel Requirement:
- This position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories
- Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and company Fuel Card to pay for vehicle expenses

- The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
Pay Range:
- The hourly range for this position is $22.90 - 31.35. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
