Position Summary

The College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at MSU Denver invites applications for the position of Building Manager and Assistant Coordinator for our newest acquisition - the 800 Kalamath Building. The Kalamath Building houses the Department of Music's Jazz and American Improvised Music, Mariachi, and Commercial Music & Technology programs. This is a full-time, 12 month position reporting to the Chair of the Department of Music with additional reporting for certain tasks to the Coordinator of the Kalamath Building.

The individual selected for this position will work closely and collaboratively with the Jazz and American Improvised Music faculty and Kalamath Building Coordinator. They will be responsible for ensuring front-desk coverage during operational hours, track expenditures and revenue for the building, coordinate fiscal and maintenance requests through university systems (Workday, etc.), manage student employment needs, and provide support for events and coordinated efforts with community groups utilizing the space. Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary.

Responsibilities

Facilities - 30%

  • Oversee rental contract process, meet with prospective renters, set up floor plans for renters
  • Serve as point of contact for facilities maintenance, MSU Denver Facilities, and Facilities Services (e.g. Trash, HVAC, Snow Removal, etc.)
  • Serve as point of contact for MSU Denver IT and Kalamath Building needs (e.g. furniture, office equipment, supplies, etc.)
  • Provide front desk support and coverage, as needed
  • Oversee rental equipment process, as needed

Budget/Procurement - 25%

  • Serve as credit card holder and point of contact for facilities costs
  • Collect and deposit revenue from events
  • Track and monitor Kalamath Building budget revenue and expenses
  • Serve as point of contact for Cashier's office payments, storefronts, and revenues
  • Order office supplies, as needed

Event Management - 25%

  • Collaborate with the Department of Music to manage ticketing software platform for events in Kalamath Building
  • Assist in event and summer camp coordination and promotion
  • Collaborate with the College of Letters, Arts and Science's Communication and Marketing team to support marketing and social media needs for events in the Kalamath Building
  • Provide support for co-sponsored events with building partners

Student Employment - 20%

  • Manage front desk and event staff (recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling)
  • Track work-study awards
  • Adjust student employee payroll expenses, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - any discipline
  • A minimum of two years of experience in operations, systems, and/or coordination efforts for a large organization
  • Strong communication, human relations, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student, faculty and staff population including, but not limited to, people of color, LBGTQIA+ individuals, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, individuals with differing abilities, undocumented students, nontraditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music or performing arts
  • A minimum of two years of university/college-level experience in operations, systems, and/or coordination efforts
  • Strong knowledge of academic operations
  • Experience implementing best practices to improve business systems and operations

Schedule Information

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Days of the Week: Mon - Fri, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: Occasional
  • Schedule: Hybrid with both in person work as well as some remote schedules subject to supervisor approval and program needs
  • Travel: Rarely

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The anticipated hiring range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $55,000 - $69,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
